Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen Abubakar Kyari, announced on Monday that Nigeria has gained ₦309 billion from the wheat harvest.

This was achieved through the cultivation of 118,657 hectares of wheat in 15 states as part of the dry season farming initiative to promote year-round agriculture.

During the Ministerial Sectoral Update in Abuja, Kyari highlighted the success of supporting 107,429 wheat farmers with inputs, resulting in an output of 474,628 metric tonnes.

Additionally, in response to a presidential directive, the Ministry provided 42,000mt of assorted food commodities from the FGN Strategic Food Reserve to NEMA for distribution.

To address rising food prices, the Ministry procured and distributed 58,500 metric tonnes of milled rice to all states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Furthermore, efforts were made to fortify crops with Vitamin A micro-nutrients to enhance the nutritional value and health benefits of food commodities.
