NLC and TUC: Organized Labour Urged to Act Responsibly by Police Amid Nationwide Strike

The Nigerian Police Force has issued a caution to organized Labour regarding their decision to proceed with a nationwide strike in order to push for a living minimum wage for workers.

The Police emphasized the importance of adhering to existing laws and urged caution to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order in the country.

In a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police acknowledged the right of organized Labour to advocate for workers’ interests but expressed concerns about the strike’s potential to increase tension and political instability. The Police urged Labour to prioritize dialogue and legal avenues to resolve grievances, rather than resorting to a strike.

The Police assured the public that adequate deployments have been made to ensure citizens can carry out their lawful activities without disruption.

They called on the public to remain calm and for organized Labour to act responsibly in accordance with the law.
