The EFCC has initiated an investigation into an alleged ₦2.5Billion fraud involving Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The investigation is centered around the misuse of campaign funds from his party, The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), in the 2023 elections and the failure of the Kwankwaso-led National Working Committee to pay party agents.

The EFCC has invited the National Secretary of the party, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, to provide evidence of the fraud allegations against Kwankwaso and his Private Secretary, Mrs Folashade Aliu.

The investigation may also extend to the signatories of the party’s bank account, including Prof. Rufai Alkali, Abba Kawu, and Dipo Olayokun. Olayokun’s sudden wealth and acquisition of properties in Abuja will also be scrutinized.

Oginni has confirmed his meeting with the EFCC officials at their headquarters and has praised their professionalism.

The investigation is ongoing, and there is a possibility that Rabiu Kwankwaso will be asked to come forward to defend himself against the allegations.
