Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has been suspended by the Edo LP.
The suspension was communicated to Julius Abure in a letter dated May 14, 2024, by Mr. Thompson Ehiguese, the Chairman of Ward 3 in Arue, Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The letter stated that the decision to suspend Julius Abure was made after careful consideration of his high-handedness, anti-party activities, and ongoing investigations into allegations of fraud against him.
The letter also advised Julius Abure to refrain from representing himself as a member of the Labour Party in Ward 3, Arue, Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Furthermore, the suspension of Julius Abure has been ratified by Mr. Kelly Ogbaloi, the Edo State Chairman of the LP.
Ogbaloi, speaking at a press conference in Benin on Friday night, stated that the state executive council had no choice but to endorse the suspension, which was also ratified by the party’s executive council in Esan North East LGA.
Additionally, Mr. Patrick Agbontaen, the State Deputy Chairman of the party, expressed agreement with the decision to suspend Julius Abure until further notice, citing the party’s frustration with the numerous allegations of misconduct against him.
