Ibrahim Lamorde, a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, passed away recently due to complications from a kidney stone.
He served as the Chairman of the EFCC from February 15, 2012, until November 9, 2015, when he was replaced by AIG Ibrahim Magu (Rtd).
Lamorde, born on December 20, 1962, in Mubi, Adamawa State, attended Ahmadu Bello University and joined the Nigerian Police Force in 1986.
He unfortunately did not survive a procedure to remove the stone while in a hospital in Egypt.
His body will be transported to Nigeria on Monday, May 27, for burial in accordance with Islamic customs.
Interestingly, Lamorde had taken his wife to Egypt for medical treatment before deciding to undergo the procedure himself.
The Nigerian government is reportedly assisting with the necessary arrangements to bring his remains back to the country.
