The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended Voters registration in Edo and Ondo State. This was decided after meeting with stakeholders.

Voters registration was originally set to end today, being June 5th, 2024, the deadline has now been pushed to June 9th, 2024, to accommodate more eligible individuals.
The registration hours have been extended from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm daily, with additional registration centers set up in all 36 Local Government offices in Benin City and Akure.

More machines have been deployed to areas with specific needs, and detailed information on the registration locations can be found on INEC’s websites and social media platforms.

As of June 3rd, 2024, a total of 120,458 new voters have registered in the two states, with a majority being youth between the ages of 18-34 years. Students make up a significant portion of the registered voters, while persons with disabilities account for a small percentage.

INEC emphasized that these numbers are preliminary and final figures will be released after the data clean-up process using the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).
