The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, accused Labour union of treason for causing the national grid to shut down during a nationwide strike.
He made this statement while meeting with the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Abuja, last week. Stressing that interfering with the grid is a grave offense and economic sabotage.
In response, the NLC stated that economic saboteurs are those in power, not innocent workers.
The demands of the NLC and TUC are for economic justice and fairness for all Nigerian workers and citizens.
The SGF’s statement trivializes the genuine grievances of workers and shows a disconnect between the government and the realities faced by ordinary Nigerians.
