Tinubu approves the terms of reference for the new Office of Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action.
President Tinubu has approved the mandate for the Office of the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and has expanded the membership of the Green Economy Committee. The Office of the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action will serve as the lead negotiator on climate-related matters, carbon market initiatives, and will coordinate all climate action-related activities across various government entities.
The office will also engage with international organizations and build coalitions to advance global climate goals.
Additionally, the President has expanded the membership of the Presidential Committee on Climate Action and Green Economic Solutions to include representatives from various federal ministries and agencies.
The committee will be inaugurated in July and is tasked with promoting diligence, dedication, and patriotism in the execution of their critical national assignment to realize the administration’s agenda on climate action and green industrial growth for the benefit of the Nigerian people and Africans as a whole.
